These paintings were created this year during my holiday in Catalonia, painted outdoors… My intention was to explore the fluidity of watercolor painting using abstract floral motifs. It’s so much fun to let the colors take the lead!

My artwork lyrically interprets the ancient motif of the Tree of Life as an axis between heaven and earth. The tree as a monumental, almost abstract center – the world axis (Axis Mundi). The broad, watery brushstrokes for the trunk anchor it firmly, while the delicate, dancing branches represent the transition to the sky. Through the flowing, transparent technique of watercolor, I was able to virtually merge the silhouettes of the people with the surrounding nature, underscoring the profound symbolic connection between humanity and the cosmos.

With this painting, „Venice Impression,“ I wanted to convey the feeling of standing directly beneath this small alleyway bridge. I attempted to depict a classic Venetian motif dramatically and poetically, gaining a special charm from the dark depths of the water and the soft, luminous light.
I utilized the fluidity and transparency of watercolor to capture a vibrant interplay of light and shadow in an urban scene.
I combined Impressionist and figurative elements to create a semi-abstract atmosphere that conveys movement and emotion.
